Composted Soil “FOR CACTUSES and Other SUCCULENTS”

Unit of measurement: 5 L

Composition:

  • Vegetable compost 67 %;
  • Raised bog peat 27 %;
  • Coarse sand 6 %.

This composted soil mix is characterised by features which are necessary for growing plants which are especially sensitive to excess moisture in the root system.

In addition to the usual components, it contains fine washed gravel. This soil mix is similar to the conditions under which these plants grow in natural habitats. The compost provides nutrients to the plants, while the gravel does not accumulate excess moisture.

Most succulents can survive in extremely harsh conditions. However, when planted in the soil, they become characterised by increased fertility (due to the compost’s ongoing biodegradation), and they begin to grow rapidly. This can often be seen in a few days. Of course, it should be remembered that most of these plants do not like a lack of light or a cool environment, or frequent changes of their position and the angle of the light. Due to any of these reasons, some cacti species may lose their flower buds.
